Universally Flattering Women's Shorts

Now that spring has finally hit it’s time to start thinking about shorts season. What is the best length and how do you know what looks best on you? We could just adhere to the saying,

“The proper skirt [or shorts] length is
two inches below cellulite.”

But, instead I’m going to tell you which pair is universally flattering for most woman… the Bermuda short with a clean front and a roomy cut are basically the “any woman” shorts. It can be dressed up or down.

They look good on everyone and by following basic guidelines for your body type you will be able to find the perfect pair or two for you.

Best for tummy: higher waist to hold the tummy in while avoiding the dreaded muffin top.
Best for curvy hips: Best for curvy hipsDiagonal pockets that draw the eye visually down away from hips, a straight cut and cuffs visually balance the thigh area.
Best for straight figures: A wider cut that creates a bell-like effect at the hem line will create curves at the waist.
Best for fuller thighs: Vertical stripes will elongate and slim the lower body.

Now that you know what to look for, it is time to prep your legs.

Before rocking your shorts this season, make sure your legs are in tip-top shape. Just like your face, if you want smooth and glowing skin you will need to exfoliate them. There are many body exfoliates that range in inexpensive to high end. Or you can make your own scrub at home with sugar, untoasted sesame oil and peppermint to remove dead skin and to promote a natural glow. Always exfoliate prior to shaving or waxing.

And, as with the rest of your body always protect your legs from wrinkle-causing sun rays by applying sunscreen daily. If you want a little color, go for a sunless tanner.
