Friday Beverage: White Wine Spritzer

Today the weather was so beautiful that our front porch was calling to me.

You know how that can be? Some Friday’s you just have to call a “Summer Friday” and pack up the workweek early and turn off the computer and make a pitcher of White Wine Spritzers.

It is the perfect spot to sit and unwind with a pile of fashion magazines and just watch our little village go about its business.

Wine spritzers are great when made with a delicious inexpensive wine. And, the market is flooded with terrific bottles in the $15-and-under range that are perfect for sipping or bringing to a dinner party. Or, making the delicious Friday afternoon White Wine Spritzer.

Nothing could be simpler to make.

White Wine Spritzer
 Ingredients
  • 3/4 glass super-chilled white wine (very, very cold!)

  • 1/4 glass super-chilled club soda (again: very, very cold!)

  • Slice of lemon
Directions
Add some ice to a pitcher and fill halfway with a super-chilled wine. I used Gazela Vinho Verde. It is an inexpensive Portugal wine. This wine is perfect on its own too; it has a bright, lemony fizz and is lower in alcohol making for a refreshing treat.
Fill the remainder of the pitcher with club soda, ginger ale or lemon lime soda. Then take a slice of lemon and put it on the rim of the glass and enjoy the beginning of a beautiful weekend. Cheers!

And, before I go I just wanted to show you a close-up of my wonderful wedge shoes that I got from payless! Aren’t they too cute?
